UBi – Engaging German Companies for Biodiversity

Promoting Awareness for Biodiversity in Businesses and Associations in Germany

The UBi project, funded within the German Federal Programme for Biological Diversity, aims to raise awareness in companies and business associations by providing them with state-of-the-art knowledge on biodiversity and improving its integration into the strategic planning of companies. The project focuses on aspects such as supply chains, networking, and sustainability management, directly contributing to the implementation of the German National Strategy on Biodiversity in line with the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030. Both strategies provide a comprehensive framework at national and EU level respectively, to stop biodiversity loss and reverse ecosystem degradation.

Services

Networks

Everything has an impact on the protection of biodiversity. We also offer sector-specific approaches such as “Food for Biodiversity” Intitative. Whether on company sites, national or international standards, or industry-specific information, like customized offers for sectors such as food, chemicals, DIY, textiles & clothing, tourism and plant cultivation.

Knowledge transfer

Events, roundtables and conferences to raise awareness of biodiversity among companies and business associations. Informing about requirements such as the CSRD.

Biodiversity management

Our customized industry checks assess how companies can contribute to biodiversity. We develop strategic approaches and support biodiversity management such as EMAS.

Best practices

We provide a platform where businesses share knowledge and experiences. Conversion of own company premises or supply chain conversion of food producers.

Working with all German stakeholders

Germany has a wide spectrum of business associations and organisations focusing on nature conservation. The UBI project, initiated among others by the German Federal Ministry for Environment, is set up as a dialogue and action platform to encourage exchange and cooperation among these key actors and promote action. Currently 39 major business associations and nature conservation organisations are actively involved in the UBi project.
